What is Offset’s Net Worth?

Offset, an American rapper, singer, and songwriter, boasts a net worth estimated at $28 million. His prominence primarily stems from being a member of the hip-hop group Migos, alongside fellow rappers Quavo and the late Takeoff. With Migos, he contributed to four studio albums: “Yung Rich Nation” (2015), “Culture” (2017), “Culture II” (2018), and “Culture III” (2021). At the height of their fame, Migos emerged as one of the highest-earning music groups globally, amassing $25 million in joint earnings within a single year from 2017 to 2018. Unfortunately, the group faced tragedy when member Takeoff was killed in November 2022. Besides his work with Migos, Offset is also recognized for his marriage to Cardi B, which lasted from 2017 to 2023.

Early Life

Born Kiari Kendrell Cephus in Lawrenceville, Georgia, on December 14, 1991, Offset was raised in a middle-class environment in Gwinnett County, Georgia, alongside his bandmates Quavo and Takeoff. Remarkably, all three are related; Quavo is Offset’s cousin, while Takeoff is Offset’s cousin once removed (as Quavo is Takeoff’s uncle). Their upbringing was filled with music, influenced by artists such as Outkast, Gucci Mane, Hot Boys, Lil Wayne, and Master P.

Career

The hip-hop trio Migos, formed in 2008 by Offset, Quavo, and Takeoff, initially went by the name Polo Club. Their breakthrough came in 2013 with the release of the single “Versace” following their first mixtape, “Juug Season,” in 2011. In 2015, they launched their debut studio album “Yung Rich Nation,” which achieved No. 3 on the US Rap chart, No. 5 on the US R&B/Hip-Hop chart, and No. 17 on the Billboard 200. Their significant hit arrived in 2017 with “Bad and Boujee” (featuring Lil Uzi Vert), which became a viral sensation, particularly due to Offset’s memorable lyrics “rain drop, drop top.” That same year, Migos released their second studio album, “Culture,” which debuted at No. 1 on the US Billboard 200 and earned platinum certification from the RIAA. They continued their success with the album “Culture II” in 2018.

Offset also collaborated with 21 Savage and Metro Boomin to release “Without Warning” in 2017, which featured artists like Travis Scott and Quavo, reaching No. 4 on the US Billboard 200. His first solo album, “Father of 4,” was released in February 2019 through Motown and Quality Control Music, featuring artists such as J. Cole, Cardi B, Big Rube, Gunna, CeeLo Green, and Gucci Mane. “Father of 4” debuted at No. 4 on the US Billboard 200 and received positive feedback from critics and fans alike.

In August 2022, Offset revealed plans for his second studio album and dropped two new singles, “54321” and “Code.” He also initiated legal action against his record label, Quality Control Music, regarding the rights to his solo work. Offset’s legal representatives asserted that he had invested significantly to obtain his solo artist rights after negotiations the previous year, while QC had allegedly attempted to claim his latest track.

Speculation arose regarding an alleged infidelity involving Quavo’s ex-girlfriend Saweetie and Offset, leading to Quavo and Takeoff splitting from Migos to create Unc & Phew. Tragically, on November 1, 2022, Takeoff was fatally shot outside a bowling alley following a party in Houston, Texas. This event prompted Offset to postpone his upcoming album’s release. In 2023, an altercation reportedly occurred between Offset and Quavo backstage at the Grammys. However, in February, the two reconciled and performed together at the BET Awards to honor the late Takeoff.

Business Ventures and Other Work

Offset’s music career is complemented by appearances in advertising campaigns for fashion designers and brands, including Gosha Rubchinskiy, Bryce Barnes, and Lavati. Additionally, in 2016, he featured alongside fellow Migos members in an episode of the television series “Atlanta.” In 2020, he launched a new show called “SKRRT with Offset” on Quibi, where he drives around with other celebrities in luxurious, high-end cars.

In August 2019, it was revealed that Offset became a new investor in the Esports organization FaZe Clan, although details regarding the investment amount and nature were not disclosed. Since then, he has made appearances in two FaZe Clan YouTube videos. Offset made his acting debut in the series NCIS: Los Angeles and in 2020, he joined Axis Replay to assist struggling artists. Following the loss of his mother to bladder cancer in 2012, he raised $500,000 for the American Cancer Society.

In 2017, Offset began a relationship with fellow American rapper Cardi B. They married secretly in Georgia that same September, but public acknowledgment of their marriage didn’t come until June 2018, when TMZ uncovered their wedding certificate. Despite their marriage, Offset famously proposed to Cardi during a live performance in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on October 27, 2017. Cardi publicly revealed their pregnancy during a guest appearance on “Saturday Night Live” in April 2018. Their daughter, Kulture Kiari Cephus, was born on July 10, 2018. Offset also has three older children: sons Jordan and Kody, and daughter Kalea, from previous relationships. The relationship between Offset and Cardi has been marked by ups and downs, often exacerbated by allegations of Offset’s infidelity.

Cardi B filed for divorce from Offset on September 15, 2020. In her filing, she sought primary physical custody of their daughter Kulture, support for their child, and a fair distribution of their assets, having noted that there was no prenup. At the time of filing, they were already apart. However, reports surfaced a month later indicating they had reconciled. In June 2021, they announced they were expecting another child, and later that year, welcomed their son, Wave Set Cephus. On August 1, 2024, reports revealed Cardi had once again filed for divorce from Offset.

Offset has had multiple encounters with the legal system and has prior felony convictions for burglary and theft. In 2013, after violating his probation related to these felonies, he was incarcerated in DeKalb County Jail, Georgia. Subsequently, in 2015, he, along with Quavo and Takeoff, was arrested at a Migos concert held at Georgia Southern University. He faced charges for the possession of an unspecified Schedule II narcotic, possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm in a school safety zone, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. While still in custody, he faced additional charges of battery and inciting a riot within the penal facility after attacking another inmate. He was released in December.

After spending eight months in custody in 2015 and accepting an Alford plea deal, which would see the gun, drug, and gang-related charges against him dropped, he pleaded guilty to inciting a riot. This agreement required him to pay a $1,000 fine and serve five years of probation. Additionally, he consented to be banished from Bulloch, Effingham, Jenkins, and Screven counties in Georgia as part of the plea deal.

In April 2019, Offset was charged with a felony for possessing three handguns and drugs linked to a previous arrest from July 2018. He found himself in trouble again in October 2020 when Beverly Hills Police detained him for carrying a concealed weapon near a Donald Trump rally, but he was released shortly thereafter. In 2021, he faced a lawsuit from Platinum Transportation Group, a car rental service in Los Angeles, after allegedly renting a Bentley Bentayga, postponing the return date multiple times, and then asserting that the car was missing and that he had no knowledge of its whereabouts.

Real Estate

It was disclosed in December 2019 that Cardi B and Offset had acquired a residence outside of Atlanta for $5.5 million. This 22,000-square-foot estate features five bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, situated on nearly six acres. The property was listed for $10 million in 2017. Below is a video tour of the home:

Career Earnings

From September 2017 to September 2018, Migos collectively earned $25 million. It is estimated that Offset’s share of those earnings was approximately $8 million, largely due to a relentless tour schedule that involved 93 performances in just 12 months. Moreover, they ranked among the most-streamed artists globally, achieving 4 billion streams during that same timeframe. Between September 2018 and September 2019, their earnings rose to $36 million.
